The innovative & award winning Metron2 device addresses a range of remote monitoring and alarming applications. The Metron2 has been designed to operate across the globe, driving down the cost of telemetry, opening up new projects as well as providing a cost effective alternative to ongoing and existing installations. For the LPG sector we have an ATEX approved battery powered telemetry device available.

The investment made in the manufacturing facility now provides an ultra modern, cutting edge, RoHS compliant manufacturing solution to customers, partner firms and OEMs. Powelectrics can offer automated surface mount production lines processing up to 50,000 component placements per hour, manual through-hole component insertion including dual-wave solder, AOI & ATE, mechanical assembly and test process capability. Our plant can accommodate all new component and design requirements from simple single layer boards to multi-layered complex assemblies.
As well as manufacturing our own range of easy to use and cost effective wire-free telemetry solutions we are able to supply a wide variety of products, from proximity switches and laser distance sensors & optical sensors, to level sensors and flow sensors, from colour recognition systems and vision systems to gprs telemetry units and radio telemetry solutions.

Our philosophy is to provide solutions that are affordable and reliable. One key element in providing robust telemetry solutions is the remote telemetry unit (RTU) and in the Metron2 we have a device that provides and elegant solution to a wide number of applications.
The Metron2 is a single box telemetry solution with four inputs (each with its own power supply
for the sensor) and two contact outputs. It is intended to simplify the process of choosing, setting up and operating a telemetry system. It has a large LCD screen that allows it to be setup and commissioned extremely easily using a logical menu system. It logs data and sends wirelessly, it sends alarms and it displays the readings on the screen. It can be powered by it's own internal battery or an external power source.
The need for telemetry is becoming more evident in the remote tank level monitoring field. As the price of fuel goes up then so does the cost of
distribution. Using telemetry to remotely monitor how much is in a customers tank helps reduce the cost of distribution. The Metron ATEX uses the cellular network and is battery powered so installation is very quick and low skilled. The latest manufacturing techniques and components provides effective and reliable hardware. GPRS communications ensures the lowest operating costs.
The Metron ATEX transmits the tank level reading normally every day. Back at HQ planners use this data to optimize deliveries, typically saving 30% on distribution costs. This not only helps the distributor save significant amounts of money but helps the environment too. A fleet of 70 tankers can save 4.4 million Kg of CO2 per year. Low cost and reliability are key factors in LPG sector where the technical challenges are great. LPG is highly flammable so the METRON ATEX needs to be approved to cope with such conditions. This presents technical challenges as the device cannot create a spark, even under fault conditions, but a lot of power is needed to communicate. With intelligent battery management, the Metron ATEX has a long battery life, low communication costs, maximum signal strength and low temperature operation.
The Metron ATEX was introduced in the summer of 2008 and already a pilot scheme with a major petrochemical company has been completed. The scheme paid for itself within the first three months, and has led to the further orders already. It has been such a success that it has been presented to the GLOBAL BUSINESS EXCELLENCE FORUM as a model to help reduce costs and reduce the environmental impact of logistics.
