Transport including Rail
Powelectrics offer nearly 30 years' experience in sensing, instrumentation and communications. We offer a range of IoT solutions for both transport vehicles and infrastucture, primarily in condition monitoring. Our cutting edge m2m solutions help operators identify when processes or kit is operating outside of optimum conditions, allowing maintenance to take place before a system is compromised. We help you improve maintenance, performance, safety & passenger comfort.
Powelectrics offer expert advice on sensors from over 100 respected manufacturers. We develop and supply our own range of Industry4.0 telemetry Metron hardware and offer our own MetronView cloud. Our versatile proprietary kit allows integration with 3rd party hardware and other software platforms, enabling an enormous range of applications.

Powelectrics own Metron4 IoT telemetry offers enormous flexibility to add functionality for specific, customer-driven applications. In addition to 4 analogue inputs, there are expansion cards for pulse counting (5 channels) and RS232 and options to develop RS485 and CANBUS interfaces.
Metron4 can act as a hub for a short range radio network, or combine fuel level data with CANBUS data to provide a complete generator monitoring solution. It could be used to measure the time interval between two events. That could be extremely useful in the rail sector, for example, to measure how long it takes a door to open or close. If the time taken is getting longer, it could indicate a problem with the hydraulics and identify the need for a maintenance check.
With solar, battery and external power options, compact IP67 enclosure and operational temperatures - 25 to +65°C, Metron4 is ideal in a wide range or on and off vehicle transport applications. Learn more here.
MetronView is our standalone cloud, with customisable dashboards, reporting & alarms. It is a highly secure and scalable IoT solution, processing millions of readings daily and offers an API, so data can be collected by other data platforms.
The API is also used by Powelectrics and our customers to create application-specific portals, displaying and manipulating the data according to your needs.
Within the rail industry alone, Powelectrics have delivered proven and approved IIoT solutions to remotely monitor and alarm fuel and coolant levels, exhaust, charge air, bearing, alternator, gearbox, battery charger and saloon temperature and air flow.
Trackside projects have included safety projects for level crossings, trackside grease applicators and track temperature.
Powelectrics are engaged in a number of R&D projects aimed at the rail industry, including collaborations with UK universities and industry research specialists. Some of these will be launched at Rail Industry exhibitions later in 2020.
